Excitement! Disappointment! 4

So I was getting ready to watch a TV show last night and I was quite excited because I actually remembered that it was on – before it was on. 2 minutes to showtime. I turn to the appropriate channel. What?! The show has already started… Very strange… Very strange indeed.

Then the end credits come on. Enter disappointment. I missed the show.

After I accepted the fact that I had ...

Delete your old email accounts. 1

Do you have an old email account that you don’t use anymore? Say, for example, that Hotmail account you created at your friends house when you were in junior high? That account that has some obscure combination of nicknames, important years, and inside jokes for a name? Like headbanger16-at-hotmail.com or skater132-at-hotmail.com.

Sound familiar? Here’s my advice: delete It! All they do is collect spam and consume ...

Light on the Hashbrowns Please 1

“my plate started coming back different from my friends’ and I thought, ‘hey, this guy knows me!’”

I’ve been pretty inspired lately. Not by the latest posts design gallery posts or by the emerging technology of the week, but by the owner of a little diner called the Red Goose where I eat every Wednesday morning.

Some good friends and I have been getting together every week, for the ...

Shooting up the city! 0

One of our current projects (in collaboration with Fission Media Group) is about the history of Edmonton. We needed some nice photos of specific landmarks so, yesterday, we set out to take on the city – armed with our cameras. Here are a few shots from the field trip.

The photos that get chosen in the end will be used as background images that highlight the content of each section in ...

Moving sequence in progress 0

As promised, here’s the time lapse of our move into the new office. This one spans out 4 hours and 1500 images (this one put my camera battery to the test!). If the beginning seems a little slow it’s because we moved everything in one (rickety) elevator load at a time. The action picks up as soon as everything has made it up to the fourth floor!

Moving sequence initiated 0

As Kristi said yesterday, Lift is “flying the coop”. We’ve moved into a new office on Whyte Avenue. The day before moving I had a brilliant idea: to do a time lapse video of moving day. I also remembered that my recently purchased Nikon D300 has a time lapse feature! So, after successfully remembering to bring the camera (and, just as importantly, the tripod), I set everything up in ...

The Labour of Love is Almost Complete 0

We’ve been renovating a new office for the past two months in a heritage building on Edmonton’s artsy Whyte Avenue.

I’m no contractor, so this experience has been quite a learning experience. Although, we haven’t done most of the work ourselves, it has given me chance to try my hand at some framing, drywall, wood work, painting and lots and lots of carrying things.

One of ...

When registering a domain name you’ll get a message telling you whether it’s available or not. I came across one that gave me an idea. Here are the results:

notavailable.com is not available!

Unfortunately, available.com is not available either!

There was one consolation though: notavailableisnotavailable.com is available. What a relief!
